The Aussie Rules Thread
Im probably wasting my time starting this but sure anyway. It look's like either Geelong or Collingwood will win it.St Kilda have been knocked out by Sidney Swans while Carlton are through to the next round after beating Essendon by 62 points.

I reckon it'll be Collingwood. Would like to see Carlton do it, hopefully Setanta wouldn't embarrass us all by doing an 'Irish Jig' like some animals.

Carlton are playing the West Coast Eagles next.Carlton finished 5th in the table but they couldn't beat the sides above them. That will have to change if they are to stay in the competition because the eagles finished 4th!I reckon Geelong can stop Collingwood while im sad to see St Kilda go out they haven't won the competition since the 60's.They lost the last two finals and the lad's over on Big Footy.com are now calling them St Failure.

I reckon Carlton could take the Eagles. Would ya believe I was in Perth last week and couldn't go to the game because I had a business dinner? Disgusted.

I hope Hawthorn stuff the Sydeny Swans although Lance Franklin will be out and he could be out for the rest of the season.I have nothing against the Sydney Swans but they have the darling dancing boy on there playing list.

Agreed on the Swans. They looked unconvincing in the final regular season game.

I'll be watching Hawthorn v The Sydney Swans later.I hope Hawthorn win although there taking a risk starting Lance Franklin after he injured his ankle last week. Then again the hawks are very reliant on Franklin and Riolli to get the scores. The winners of this will get stuffed by Collingwood though.ESPN are not showing the Carlton match.

SETANTA Ó hAilpín has been handed another opportunity to become an established AFL player after new franchise, Greater Western Sydney selected him in the AFL draft at Homebush yesterday.
The move came as no surprise given that GWS head coach Kevin Sheedy had signalled his interest in Ó hAilpín on a number of occasions since his release by Carlton.
The Blues had been forced by recruitment rules to shed a player from their list and admitted that, despite playing well in their two finals this year, Ó hAilpín (28) was five years older than Paul Bower and it militated against him.
The player himself argues that, having only taken up Aussie Rules eight years ago, he has plenty of improvement still in him.
Ó hAilpín was picked up at number 79 in the draft and will play a key role for the rookie outfit in what is sure to be a difficult first season, if the Gold Coast Suns’ experience in the last campaign is anything to go by.
The Corkman will offer plenty of experience, as well as versatility, with his ability to play in attack or defence.
